9 Pots of Gold

Irish-themed games featuring leprechauns, pots of gold, rainbows and this being Ireland…some rain and grey skies…have always been popular in the world of slots.

A big part of that probably has a lot to do with the expression ‘the luck of the Irish’.

That said, Irish-themed slots have inevitably been a bit hit-and-miss. But this is one definitely comes under the hit category.

There’s the chance to win up to 30 free spins and a multiplier that could be as much as 3x to go with them.

And as the game’s name suggests, there could be up to nine pots of gold appearing on those reels.

No prizes for guessing what happens if all of them appear on the same spin. But we’ll come to that in due course.

More to the point, this is an entertaining, fun, tongue-in-cheek slot that will keep you going with a smile on your face.

Much like the Irish themselves.

Rules

It’s a 5x3 reel slot with 20 fixed pay lines.

More experienced slots players will be familiar with Max Bet, Autoplay and Turbo features. But we’ll explain anyway.

The first means you play your next spin for the maximum stake allowed at the press of a button, the second means you play a pre-determined number of spins without having to manually press the spin button and the third means you play your spins in rapid time.

That’s for the more impatient slots players out there who just want to get on with it.

There’s a Wild mushroom on the reels that unsurprisingly acts as a Wild, substituting for other symbols, bar the two special ones.

We’ll talk about those just now.

Tips and strategy

There’s no shame in quitting while you’re ahead. Quite the opposite.

So, if you’ve secured a big win, probably thanks to a good run on the free spins or getting a few Pots of Gold in the feature going by that name, it could be time to take the money and run.

After all, if your luck has just been in over the last spin, it may be a while until it returns and you secure another decent payout.

On the flipside, if you’ve had a particularly barren run, now may be the time to increase your stake because a decent win may be just around the corner.

Bonus Rounds

There are two bonus features in the game. Let’s look at what they’re all about.

Pots of Gold Feature

If you look to the left of the reels, you’ll see a pay table.

It tells you what you’ll win depending on how many Pots of Gold appear on the reels. Three or more get you the minimum prize and the more of them you get, the more you’ll win. Not rocket science, as they say.  By the way, they can appear anywhere n he reeks; the Pots of Gold don’t need to appear in a particular line or sequence.

The maximum number of Pots of Gold you can have is nine and getting them will secure what is essentially, the game’s Jackpot. Which is 2000x the stake at which you were playing at for that spin.

Free Spins

Most slots these days have free spins as a bonus feature and though this one is pretty original in many ways, it’s similar to the norm in that way. But the number of free spins you get isn’t dependent on how many Scatters symbols activate it.

What you’ll need is three Free Spins symbols to activate the round.

On most slots three get you x number of free spins, four get you more and five get you the maximum amount.

Not here.

Rather, before the free spins round comes about you get to spin a wheel. Not only does the wheel tell you how many spins you’re going to get (up to 30, by the way), but it also tells you what Multiplier is going to be in play during them, which is up to 3x.

Design

This being an Irish-themed slot, there’s somewhat predictably, a lot of green on it.

That includes most of the symbols, such as the shamrock, the Bar and the Leprechaun’s hat. Even the free spins symbols are green.

It’s a god-looking slot all in all and given the Irish are also known for their humour, there’s a touch of it in the form of the Leprechaun just above the 9 Pots of Gold pay table: the Leprechaun there is wearing cool (green, of course) shades and is smoking some sort of pipe.

Final Thoughts

This is a slot that will appeal to just about any slots player but is probably ideal for the intermediate one.

Two bonus features, medium volatility, a Jackpot of sorts that isn’t progressive…check, check, check.

And in addition to all that, it’s just a really fun slot with a familiar theme but they’ve done it particularly well here.
